Our Town – Bulolo

A truly self-sufficient organisation in Bulolo, PNG Forest Products operates retail and wholesale outlets, a country club, cattle & poultry farms and an abattoir, servicing the town and surrounding districts. With over 1,500 staff the company houses a large number of its employees and their families, providing all the necessary services including power, water, road maintenance, security, garbage collection and grass cutting. All electricity to Bulolo and Wau is supplied by PNGFP Hydro.

PNGFP’s retail outlets include the No. 1 Stoa Supermarket, Butchery, Bakery, Pharmacy, Liquor Outlet, Hardware Store, Fuel Station and the BFC Fast Food Outlet.

BCC - Bulolo Country Club

Opened in 1947, the BCC showcases a beautifully maintained 9 Hole Golf Course that hosts many PNG golfing events including a large Ambrose every November. Open 7 days a week, the BCC’s modern facilities include a Swimming Pool; Gymnasium & Sauna; Family BBQ Area with Children’s Playground; Tennis/Basketball Court; as well as Bar & Restaurant facilities. Comfortable accommodation is provided onsite with over 20 fully serviced, air conditioned ensuite bungalows.

BFC - Bulolo Fried Chicken

BFC features a delicious variety of fried and roast chicken & chip combos; spicy chicken wings; chicken burgers; Bulolo Beef burgers; pies & sandwiches; saveloys & lamb flaps with rice; and soft serve ice cream.

Beverages include barista-level coffee, milkshakes, slushies and soft drinks, all complemented by a delightful array of daily-changing cakes and pastries.

Cattle Station

Established pre-WWII, PNGFP’s cattle farm covers 600 hectares. Employing nine staff, the farm carries over a thousand head of cattle and supplies beef to the supermarket, butchery and Country Club.

Currently undergoing a refurbishment of pastures whilst successfully trialing plots of Balsa.

Poultry Farm & Bulolo Fresh Chicken

Launched in late 2021, the Bulolo Poultry Farm was created to initially supply fresh and frozen chicken to No.1 Stoa for retail sale under our Bulolo Fresh brand name, as well as to BFC for fried and roast chicken packs. The farm has steadily grown and currently has the capacity for 20,000 birds with plans to continue this growth into 2025 and to include Layer birds to our production schedule.

PNGFP now supplies Bulolo Fresh Chicken to Ocean Restaurant and Coastal Retail Service Ltd, as well as to FoodMart Supermarket in Lae, who retail our 500g, 700g and 900g frozen chicken trays as well as our Size 13 whole chickens, roasted in their café. Other retail outlets are planned for the near future.

Bowling Club

With well maintained greens, Bulolo Bowling Club has an active membership and hosts major National events. A number of its members have represented PNG in international competitions over the years, including the Commonwealth Games in Australia, India, Canada and Scotland.

Parks & Sporting Fields

Sporting fields are used by the staff, their families and the larger community virtually every weekend. Soccer, volleyball and basketball are popular with Pikinini Soccer being introduced in mid 2019. The Bulolo Park was renamed Somare Park in 2021 with a specially made pedestal and plaque in dedication to the late Sir Michael Somare.
