Engineered Wood Products Association of Australasia (EWPAA) Accreditation

PNG Forest Products is a manufacturing member of the Engineered Wood Products Association of Australasia (EWPAA), which operate a rigorous Type 5 certification program under the controls of the peak accreditation body JAS-ANZ.

Type 5 systems include, end product qualification testing; internal audits (management, process and quality); in-mill process quality control; market surveillance testing and an obligation to rectify any market quality issues. Independent audits are carried out by EWPAA quality control auditors every six months, with the audit involving inspection of mill quality control procedures and end product testing. Samples are sent each week to the EWPAA National Quality Control Laboratory for verification of the in-mill quality testing regime, with this laboratory being certified by the National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA).  By comparison, Type 5 systems are second only to Type 6 systems which are used in manufacture of aircraft components.

The “EWPAA Tested” and “EWPAA JAS-ANZ” brand guarantee that the plywood has been quality tested to Australian and New Zealand Standards, under the strict controls of the EWPAA Quality Control program controlled by JAS-ANZ Joint Accreditation System.

PEFC Accreditation

PNG Forest Products has achieved PEFC Chain of Custody accreditation on the basis of 100% controlled sources.

PEFC promotes a Chain of Custody system that tracks the wood source to the final product, ensuring that the wood contained in the product originates from sustainably managed forests.

For a product to qualify for PEFC Chain of Custody accreditation, all entities along the supply chain must possess a PEFC Chain of Custody certificate and undergo an extensive risk assessment.

Public and Private procurement policies increasingly require wood and wood-based products to originate from sustainably managed forests, and often specify PEFC certification as evidence.
